Alcatraz!

Next wk hadda lotsa work, but when they were done, had party at adeline's apartment. Iza was so drunk as we were heading home, it was hilarious. She was literally bouncing against the fences...walking really crooked...almost onto the main road! And for once, i could feel not totally ok. But i was still aware of myself and everything, its just my legs were moving slower than my mind was thinking, mind was still pretty sharp. But tummy rumbling as i took a hurried shower and slumped into bed for the night (or shld i say, morning). How not surprising, my body can take so much alcohol, but not my stomach.

We booked a trip to alcatraz then too, seeing how successful we were the previous time. So on sunday, me, adeline, pierre, iza, chris and sheil headed to fisherman's wharf, boarded the ferry and went to the highest maximum security there was in the US.

Leaving the city in our wake.

Iza, sheil, adeline, chris

Way after the prison was closed, the native indians activist came and lived off the island, hoping that the government would give the land back to them, and in protest of all the govt seisures of their native land. Altho, alcatraz was nvr given to them, but it was impt for the rights that were given to them following that.

The island was also a santuary to a variety of wildlife nesting grounds. And here is the common, but plentiful, giant seagulls nesting grounds. The gulls would 'ride' the wind waves from the ferry to and fro the island and the city!

The stoopid guard nvr take the pic properly. We wanted the quote:
"Break the law and you go to prison, break the prison rules and you go to alcatraz."

Me in prison (can't believe it's pink).

Battle of Alcatraz. These six guys tried to escape, but failed. The mastermind starved himself so that he was skinny, made a little bar thingy (u can see it in the pic b/w the bars) that can help to spread the bars when placed at the weak point of the bars. He climbed up a level, slipped thru the bars and overcame the guards that were in the gun gallery who were taken by surprise. They were suppose to get the keys that heads to the rec yard and escape from there, but cos 1 other guard had taken the keys w him (and he wasn't suppose to). So they were trapped in the prison, and one by one overcame the guards as they entered and put them in jail. Some of them, knowing they can't escape no more, started shooting some of the guards. And there was a ruckus, and finally alarm rang. The special forces fired a hailstorm of bullets and bombs and such, and most of them were killed, even a guard was killed by friendly fire.

The booth for the public to talk with the prisoners.

The view from the yard. What was suppose to be so hard to live in alcatraz was to feel the wind, see the sea look at the buzzing city all so near, but yet so far. But the strong currents and freezing cold waters were suppose to make it impossible to escape.

And this is where 'PrisonBreak" got their idea from. These 2 guys were the only ones success in escaping and are currently still considered as fugitives.

They used soap, cement and goodness-knows what to make these heads and place them in their beds while they escaped thru the hole and climb up the narrow shaft into the tunnel.

And this is the dark long tunnel they climbed to. I dunno where they went after that too.

They shaded the outline of the knifes in the kitchen so guards would know if a prisoner had taken it. The mess room was suppose to be the most dangerous place in the prison cos all using metal utensils. They placed gas cylinders on the ceiling, but they never needed to use them.

The infamous Al Capone, the giant mob boss who was finally caught and inprisoned for....."Income Tax Evasion" That's harsh mans.

And the leaving view of the amazin 12-acre island "resort".

With the little community of the families of the guards living there too, it sure is 'interesting'. Can u imagine the conversations of the kids who hv to commute on the ferry to go to school each day? "hi, how about coming to my place after school?" "where do u stay?" "Alcatraz."
